Jordan Berry [00:00:01]:
Welcome to Laundromat News. Today, it’s America’s favorite laundromat. News anchor, Jordan Berry bringing you all the news Laundromat related from around the world. Let’s kick it off with this past week was Halloween and we had a Laundromat at Harper’s Choice Laundry had a pumpkin decoration contest. They called it the Gorgeous Pumpkin Contest. That’s not even the joke for today and looks really cool, actually. People look like they showed up for this thing. So make sure you’re subscribed to the news because you get a link to to this article where you can see the winning pumpkins are actually incredibly impressive.
Jordan Berry [00:00:46]:
I’m glad I didn’t enter because I would have lost and this is the first one I think that they did. So the bar has been set and it has been set high up there with the gourd Gorgeous Pumpkin Contest. There. Kennelworths Bubbles and Baskets is hosting their second annual mix and mingle with an art show with painting featuring paintings about cats. And it’s the world in cat’s eyes. So it should be a lot of fun. If you’re around Kenilworth could be very cool. Also, if you’re not around Kenilworth but you own a Laundromat, there’s some ideas floating around here today.
Jordan Berry [00:01:25]:
Fun things that people are doing in their laundromat. Speaking of which, there’s a new New York City Laundromat that’s offering fresh spin on community. This is the laundry loft in Brooklyn. Had their grand opening. It was a hoot. It was a party that they had over there. They’re trying to offer things like bitcoin classes and other, you know, games and stuff to help foster community there in that Brooklyn neighborhood where the Laundry Lo is located. Again, you want to check this out.
Jordan Berry [00:01:58]:
There’s a little clip maybe like four minutes long about their grand opening and their vision behind their business, which is very cool. That’ll be in the news. So make sure again, you’re subscribed [email protected] over there so you can get the news with links to all of these articles. And another coffee shop slash laundromat combos opening up. This one’s in non in Ohio. And listen, these creative business plans are, you know, they’re, they’re catching some fire here. So we need to keep an eye on this. Maybe something to work into what you’ve got going on.
Jordan Berry [00:02:35]:
I know JR has been on the podcast who has laundry and lattes in New York and he talked about his experience with that. So a lot of cool things. And, you know, owners, business owners, laundromat owners, thinking of ways to monetize the time that they have with their customers while they’re waiting on their laundry. So very cool. All right, so let’s move on from. From some of the fun kind of community activities and things happening in. In local laundromats. And let’s head to the stock ticker.
Jordan Berry [00:03:08]:
This is our weekly check in on the Alliance Laundry holdings stock ticker. It’s mostly flat. I believe last week we were sitting at $26.30, I believe last week. This week we’re at $26.39. So mostly flat in the last week or so. Again, I want to be keeping an eye on this. Listen, when companies go public, it means they have to drive profits for their investors. And there’s a variety of ways that companies can drive profits, but the majority of those ways have something to do with selling us more, charging more for what they are selling us, or getting more of us to buy what they’ve got.
Jordan Berry [00:03:52]:
So we are the customers for this. We are the ones driving the stock ticker. So I like to just keep an eye on it to see what it’s doing and to see what Alliance Laundry holdings is planning on doing. So we’ll keep peeking in on Alliance Laundry holdings stock prices as we go along in these news episodes. Maybe you can keep an eye on them as well. All right. Speaking of big companies doing big things, Tide Laundry and Cleaners is at it again. They just sold the rights to Dubin Investment Group that is part of the Be Wild Investment Company, or Dubin, I guess, which is part of Be Wild Investment Company.
Jordan Berry [00:04:34]:
And they have just secured an agreement, I believe, with Tide Laundry to be able to secure both Tide Laundry and Tide Dry cleaning franchise locations for the city of New York. So this is a big deal. And this is the first. I believe this is the first city that they have finalized an agreement where somebody can operate both Tide Laundromat and Tide Dry Cleaner. So they’re making big moves. Again, we got to be keeping an eye on this. I do believe that Tide Laundry is the one at the current moment, it’s the one franchise that has the ability to make a big impact in. In our industry.
Jordan Berry [00:05:18]:
And that’s really what they’re aiming to do. So the Be Wild Investment Company, I believe they’re up to 53. No, I believe they’re up to 75 units. Actually. They. Yeah, 75 locations overall, 57 laundromats 18 cleaners. And they did say hey, if you’re in the New York market, they did say that they are looking to take over existing locations as one of their primary models to get these, you know, get these franchises off the ground. So good, bad, not sure.
Jordan Berry [00:05:51]:
Again, just keeping an eye on what tides got going on over there. And hey listen, there was a research study. These been coming out left and right actually, but saying commercial laundry machines are, are added again, they’re, they’re looking to grow. But I thought it was interesting some of the key opportunities in this growth for commercial laundries machines lie in energy efficient Internet of things enabled equipment which we don’t have a ton of. I mean it’s kind of happening with some of like the speed queen insides, Dexter, you know, insights, those kinds of things. But that’ll be interesting to see how that goes. Also expansion in Asia Pacific and a lot in hospitality, healthcare and multi housing sector. So in, in addition to the trend of purchasing larger machines kind of across the board.
Jordan Berry [00:06:44]:
So interesting that the commercial washer, commercial laundry machine growth projections, laundromats specifically aren’t playing a leading role in that. So just kind of interesting there, there. What’s this story? Oh, another, yeah, another study that just came out was showing that a lot of wash, dry, fold services are actually struggling to fulfill orders. It turns out that they’re starting off okay, but halfway through they’re thrown in the towel. Ah, thrown in the towel. Get it. Okay, that was your joke for today. Hope you enjoyed it.
Jordan Berry [00:07:28]:
But I got a couple more stories for you coming up here. You know, let’s, let’s take it international here and we’re heading over to Australia where Australia is seeing a boom right now of these smaller luxury laundromats going on. And it’s really, really interesting what they’re doing there. There’s an article here talking about how laundromats have been rehab in the reputation basically from dark and dingy to more luxurious, more feeling like lounges or clubs. Just having a much better experience there. And I know we’ve had some friends of ours over there in Australia doing cool things with their laundromats and, and really helping drive some of this image revitalization of laundromats in Australia. So pretty cool stuff there. And also coming out of Canada, there’s a podcast that came out on the stress Test podcast talking about a woman I believe, Blake Corey.
Jordan Berry [00:08:33]:
Is that right? Oh, I don’t know if this is the one actually, but I forget the name of the woman but you can listen to this podcast and she talks about how she left school to buy a laundromat and why she thinks that was a good idea and why these quote unquote boring businesses are appealing. So it might be an interesting podcast for you to listen. Listen to. Probably not as interesting as a lot of my resource podcasts and our interviews, but maybe, just maybe, it’s, you know, informative and entertaining. So make sure you check that out. And let’s wrap it up with a little pop culture. Kalani is bringing Folded to the or did bring Folded to the Jimmy Kimmel Live Laundromat. And Kalani song continues to be a hit.
Jordan Berry [00:09:20]:
I actually never even heard it. I may actually listen to it before report on the news of it, but, you know, I don’t know. Beware if you listen to it. I’m not sure the cleanliness of the lyrics. I’m not really even sure what it’s about, but it is Laundromat related. And they, they brought up the set of. I think it’s Nina’s. Was it Nina’s.
Jordan Berry [00:09:40]:
Let me see. Nina’s fluff and fold, I believe. I. I think it was Nina’s fluff and fold Laundromat set to the stage. So Laundromats being featured again, pop culture on Jimmy Kimmel. So listen, we are not boring. We are hip and we are so cool. Look at us.
Jordan Berry [00:10:01]:
Go Laundromats. All right, cool. That is your news from around the world. All things Laundromat related for this week. If you’ve got news, you want to be featured on the news, whether it’s big about, you know, your company, who’s serving the industry, or it’s small about your specific Laundromat and something you’ve got going on over there. We’d love to hear about it. [email protected] we’ll get you featured on the news. All right, that’s it.
Jordan Berry [00:10:24]:
And we’ll see you next week. That’s all for Laundromat news today.
